Strategic Foresight
Helping people imagine the future - seriously

The problem
Most people have never been asked what a good future looks like. Not what job they want or who they are going to vote for, but what a good life actually is. Let alone how to negotiate that vision with what we know is coming.
That's not an accident. The spaces, tools and permission needed to think long-term are rarely available - particularly to the people and communities most affected. The result is an imagination gap: a disconnect between the change we know is needed and our collective ability to picture it.
Why now
The decisions being made today - on climate, technology, work and more - will shape the next fifty years. The people affected by those decisions are rarely part of making them - and the window for genuine influence is narrowing.
Futures thinking is not a luxury. It is a democratic necessity. The question is whether we do it at scale, with rigour, before decisions are made - or scramble to respond after.
Our approach
Shared Horizon runs futures thinking workshops that create structured, supported spaces for groups to think about the future of society and their part in it.
We work with universities, schools, civic organisations, public institutions and mission-driven businesses. Sessions range from two-hour tasters to multi-session programmes. Every workshop is designed around the specific context, audience and goals of the partner.
We don't just ask what people imagine. We look at how they imagine - what shapes their sense of possibility, and what expands it.
The method
Our workshops are built on the Futures Consciousness framework, developed at the University of Turku - one of the most rigorous academic models for understanding how people relate to the future. We use SenseMaker to collect self-interpreted stories and reflections, generating rich quantitative and qualitative data alongside the session itself.
This is what distinguishes our work. We're not just facilitating conversations - we're building an evidence base for what it actually takes to shift imaginative capacity at scale. Every workshop generates insight that feeds back into how we design the next one.
After each session, we support partners to translate what emerged into concrete next steps - connecting visions to action.
